Music, sound, noise and silence

As we learnt in class, music can be made of sounds, noises, or both of them. In the past, music includes mostly sounds, but nowadays we use different noises as common sounds. Here you can find several examples:
1. Music made of noises:
Pierre Henry- Variations pour une porte et un soupir
Kitchen music

2. Music made of sounds, imitating noises:
Honegger- Pacific 231
Janequin- Le chant des oiseaux (16th cent.) Min. 2'05
Choir- Rain

3. Music made of silence: "And the silence turned into music"
John Cage- 4.33
Creation of stories using only noises and sounds:   Example"

An interesting website about noise in the "Roaring twenties" in NY

MUSICAL THEORY:  a website to find information and examples about different sound-waves and the difference between noise and sound (physics explanation).
